With one plan offering unlimited annual benefits, 90% reimbursement, and the ability to pay your vet directly, Trupanion focuses on making pet insurance easy to understand and use when it matters most.

Trupanion offers accident & illness coverage for dogs and cats. Trupanion does not offer any optional Coverage add-on coverage.
ACCIDENT AND ILLNESSCovers accidents and illnesses with unlimited annual benefit.
Per-condition Deductible levels: $0 – $1,000Note: Per-condition (or per-incident) deductibles apply to each new illness/injury, staying active until that specific issue is resolved. This may be best for pets with chronic issues like diabetes or allergies. However, you may end up paying multiple deductibles in one year if your pet has different problems. The Pet Owner Assistance PackageThis helps pay for expenses outside of veterinary costs, including:
- Boarding fees if you are hospitalized.
- Advertising and rewards for lost pets.
- Liability coverage if your pet damages someone else's property.
- Vacation cancellation costs if you cancel your trip because your pet is ill or injured.
- Burial or cremation costs if your pet dies due to an accident.
The Recovery and Complementary Care RiderThis add-on covers non-clinical procedures, including:
- Acupuncture
- Chiropractic care
- Behavioral modification

Enrollment Requirements
- Maximum age at enrollment: 14 years
- You can buy your pet a pet insurance plan from Trupanion from the time they are born until their 14th birthday. After your pet turns age 14, you'll no longer be able to buy a new policy. But if you buy a policy before their 14th birthday and keep it, you'll have lifelong coverage.

How to File a Claim with Trupanion
1) Choose a Plan:
Select a policy that fits your pet's needs and your budget.
Use PIPA's free tool to see if Trupanion is the best option for you and your pet(s).
2) Do NOT Pay Upfront:
Visit any licensed veterinarian in the U.S. or Canada and Trupanion pays your vet directly if your vet has Trupanion's software. If your vet or pet emergency hospital are not set up to accept direct payments from Trupanion, you can file a pet insurance claim.
3) Submit Claim:
Claims can be submitted through one of the following Trupanion channels. The window to file is 180 days.- Online – log into your account and upload an itemized vet invoice
- Email or fax – download a claim form and send it with an itemized vet invoice to claims@trupanion.com, or fax to 1-866-405-4536
