PIPA Broker (Pet Insurance Policy Automation) is a licensed, independent pet insurance marketplace based in Seattle, Washington. Dog and cat owners enter a few details and get real-time quotes from seven U.S. carriers side by side, enroll directly with the carrier at the carrier's own price with no fee, and PIPA donates a portion of its commission to the animal rescue the customer names. How it works

  1. Enter the pet's name, species, sex, weight, age, breed, and ZIP code at pipabroker.com/info (about 60 seconds; no credit check, no obligation).
  2. PIPA returns real-time quotes from its partner carriers for accident-only, accident-and-illness, and wellness/routine-care add-on plans.
  3. Plans appear side by side (PIPA Compare): deductibles, reimbursement rates, annual limits, waiting periods, and exclusions.
  4. The owner enrolls directly with the chosen carrier. PIPA charges no fee, ever. When a policy is purchased through PIPA, the insurer may pay PIPA a standard broker commission, the same it would pay any agent; the customer's premium does not change.
  5. For every qualifying policy, PIPA donates part of its commission to the animal rescue or shelter the customer names in their questionnaire. The customer does not need to have adopted from that rescue.

Licensed, carrier-neutral agents are available by phone and email to explain coverage.

Why pet owners use PIPA instead of one carrier's site

  • Neutral: PIPA is not owned by or exclusive to any carrier, so it matches coverage rather than pushing one product.
  • Same price as direct: no user fee and no markup; the premium is the carrier's own.
  • Licensed: guidance comes from a licensed broker (license numbers published per state), not an affiliate content site.
  • Gives back: part of every commission goes to the customer's chosen rescue.
  • Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 stars on Google Reviews.

Founding story

Co-founder Jeffrey Hanschmann started PIPA after his cat, CRISPR-Cat9 ("Mr. Crispy"), was treated for a urinary tract infection and came home with a multi-thousand-dollar vet bill. He found that most pet families didn't know how affordable pet insurance could be or how to compare coverage, and built PIPA to make that comparison fast and neutral.
