Enrollment Requirements
- The waiting period varies by state. See a sample policy for more information.
- Pet must be enrolled before the age of 6 years old for hip dysplasia coverage.
- The minimum enrollment age is 8 weeks, maximum enrollment age is 14 years (this can differ for some states).
- In some states, your pet must have undergone a complete clinical examination within a defined time period prior to or shortly after enrollment.
Waiting Periods
- Accidents: Varies by state; 0–15 days
- Illnesses: 15 days
- Orthopedic: Varies by state; 30 days – 12 months; not available to pets enrolling at ages 6+
How to File a Claim with Healthy Paws
1) Choose a Plan:
Select a policy that fits your pet's needs and your budget.
Use PIPA's free tool to see if Healthy Paws is the best option for you and your pet(s).2) Pay Upfront:
Visit any licensed veterinarian in the U.S. or Canada and pay the vet directly when your pet needs care.3) Submit Claim:
Claims can be submitted through one of the following Healthy Paws channels:- Mobile app
- Website
- Fax
4) Get Reimbursed:
Most claims are processed within 2 days with a direct deposit option for receiving reimbursements. The reimbursement amount will depend on your plan's coverage.
Note: Please note that medical records may be required to complete your pet's first claim. Healthy Paws offers direct vet pay on a claim-by-claim basis with prior approval.

Cancellation Policy
- Full refund if canceled within first 30 days of policy effective date and no claims filed. Number of days and eligibility is state dependent.
- A cancellation request can be made via fax, mail, email, or phone.
